Erbacher Wiesenmarkt starts: South Hesse's largest folk festival beckons!
The Erbacher Wiesenmarkt, the largest folk festival in southern Hesse, opens its doors in the picturesque Odenwald on Friday, July 18th. Around half a million visitors are expected here over the next ten days, who can look forward to a diverse program. With a spacious festival area of around 60,000 square meters, this event will certainly be a highlight of the summer calendar.
Over 80 showmen present a varied range of rides. For adrenaline junkies big and small, there is something for everyone here. The dealer streets, in which around 120 dealers offer creative goods and useful everyday objects, also invite you to browse and buy. Everything from sustainable products to handcrafted beautiful things is represented.
Culinary highlights and trade fair offers
The culinary offering at the Wiesenmarkt is impressive and ranges from hearty curry sausages to fresh fish rolls and sweet crepes. A true feast for the senses! The framework of the Wiesenmarkt is rounded off by the South Hesse Fair, which takes place in two halls and a 10,000 square meter outdoor area. Here visitors can expect exciting offers for home and household, vehicles as well as agricultural equipment and kitchen aids. Luckily, entry is free!
The festival begins with a sparkling opening fireworks display on the first Friday at 10:30 p.m. Especially for believers, there is an ecumenical market service in the Erbacher Wiesenalm on the first Sunday at 10 a.m., while the city center invites you to a shopping Sunday on the same day.
A colorful supporting program
Every holiday has its own highlight. From the Odenwälder Reiter-Verein's riding and jumping tournament to breakfast in the Ferris wheel for winners of a ticket raffle on Monday - there is a lot on offer. Backstage tours and a seniors' breakfast are also on the program. For women there is a “Ladies Night” on Tuesday evening, where men in women’s clothing also find a warm welcome.
On Wednesday, guests can look forward to a children's play festival, which, together with a family day that offers price reductions, will bring great joy. The musical entertainment is provided by various music groups and brass bands in the beer halls and festival tents.
Now everyone who is curious is invited to visit the Wiesenmarkt until July 27th. All that's left to say is: Come along and don't miss the best folk festival in southern Hesse! Information about this can also be found at Quermania and FFH!
