Darmstadt 98 starts the hot season preparation with vigor!

Darmstadt, Deutschland - On Sunday, SV Darmstadt 98 started the training to prepare for the new season. With the usual high summer temperatures of over 35 degrees in the shade and in front of around 350 fans, the players gathered in the functional building on Nieder-Ramstädter Strasse. Marcel Schuhen welcomed those present humorously with the question: "Did you miss us?" And his colleague Alexander Brunst joined and said: "I hope you all are fine. It finally starts again!" The positive mood was noticeable among the players and the fans.

Sports director Paul Fernie, however, warned for caution because of the heat and it is important not to lose sight of the health of the players. At this start, Paul wanted to apologize due to a cold, which, however, can get back into training again after his recovery. On the other hand, the lilies are happy about the return of Matthias Bader and Fabian Holland, who have both severe cruciate ligament injuries and are already training with the team.

trainer and team in focus

coach Florian Kohfeldt expressed extremely positive about the overall situation and the fitness of his players. After the last season went turbulent and the team fought with a disappointing start, Kohfeldt managed to gradually stabilize the troop. "We have the task of developing a game idea, well fulfilled, but there is still need for improvement, especially against defensively strong opponents," says Kohfeldt. He sees potential for a better season if the right conclusions can be drawn from the experience of the last season. The distance to the upper table positions is less than it appeared, and the team can achieve a lot with the right focus.

Kohfeldt plans to further strengthen the offensive. New in the team are Leon classes, which was signed by Lyngby BK, and Yosuke Furukawa, who changes from Gornik Zabrze. From furukawa, a dribble -strong player, Kohfeldt expects a lot and hopes to be able to creatively integrate him into the attacks.

departures and uncertainties

A little unrest comes up by the departures of Andreas Müller and Guille Bueno. Müller left the club and Bueno does not return after his loan. In addition, striker Oscar Vilhelmsson is in conversations with a new club, which could mess up the Kohfeldt offensive plans.

The past season leaves mixed feelings. Although Darmstadt 98 was able to complete with a 3-1 win against Jahn Regensburg, who has to take the bitter path into the second division, but the overall dissatisfaction with the point outlet is heavy on the squad. All the more, Kohfeldt and his men are challenged to attach fine tuning in this year's summer break in all positions instead of taking up a big change.

"Above all, we have to increase the physical availability of the players, because that was a fundamental problem last season," Kohfeldt continues. In addition, it remains to be seen whether top performers such as the goal -getter ISAC Lidberg or captain Riedel will remain part of the team, since both players may consider lucrative offers.

The anticipation for the new season is there, and with the right approach, the Darmstadt 98 team could deliver significantly better performance in the next round.
