Discover nature: summer tour Along the Darmbach” in Dieburg!

The Odenwaldklub Dieburg invites you to a particularly exciting summer nature tour “Along the Darmbach” on Sunday, June 29th. The meeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the parking lot on the Leer. Participants have the opportunity to explore the course of the Darmbach from the city center to the source. A real nature experience that goes hand in hand with an initiative in Darmstadt to repatriate the Darmbach from the sewage system. The importance of water protection, which has a high priority in the region, is also highlighted.

The participants follow the stream, which takes them through the Herrngarten, past the Darmstadtium and the Woog to the botanical garden, before finally reaching Roßdorf. The path is peppered with numerous interesting stations that invite you to linger and marvel. Return to Dieburg comfortably with bus 672.

Public arrival and organization

The bus line 671, which offers various stops in the area, ensures a pleasant journey. For example, it goes via the Wilhelm-Brandt-Platz stop, which only takes a few minutes. Here participants can organize a group ticket to share travel costs and help protect the environment. Registration is required and can be done by Friday, June 27th at 6 p.m. with Karin and Volker, either by phone or email.

Urban nature and environmental protection

In parallel to these activities, the city nature center in Darmstadt is worth mentioning. Innovative projects to promote biodiversity have been carried out there since 2024. An example of this are the “Tiny Insect Gardens”, which were built in collaboration with the youth group “J-GCL”. These mobile gardens not only provide a habitat for many insects, but also raise awareness among the younger generation about environmental issues. Such initiatives not only benefit the local flora and fauna, but also raise awareness among the population.

Reports on further developments in the city nature center show progress in the structural design, such as the completion of the floors and walls. The roofing of the pergola and the interior design are still pending, which is why the center continues to rely on donations to officially start operations.

Overall, the tour along the Darmbach is not only an opportunity to relax in nature, but also an important contribution to environmental protection and education about the local flora and fauna. Everyone is welcome to join and discover the beauties of the region together.
