Natascha Hirthe is thrilled to return to Bad Hersfeld after six years!

A very special moment is coming: Natascha Hirthe is returning to the big festival stage after six years. At the Bad Hersfeld Festival she will complete the stage rehearsal for “Midsummer Night's Dreams” in the monastery ruins, and for good reason - she celebrated her first appearance here 30 years ago.

But the day was tough: a torrential rain meant that the actors had to use rubber mops to keep the stage dry. “That’s a bit strange,” laughs Hirthe, who remains optimistic as always. Her relationship with Bad Hersfeld is deeply rooted; she previously played at the Eichhof and fondly remembers that her father also performed at the Stiftsruine in 1961.

Career with tradition and change

Natascha Hirthe was born in Berlin and comes from a creative family - as the daughter of the set and costume designer Hannelore Hirthe-Kuschnitzky and the state actor Martin Hirthe, she has a love of the stage in her blood. She began dancing ballet at the age of 9, and her first stage appearance followed at the age of 10 in the children's ballet 'The Astronauts'. Despite a drastic personal loss when her father died shortly after her 13th birthday, she continued on her path and was discovered by Susanne Erichsen for a fashion show.

Hirthe looks back on a diverse body of work—from her role in “A Long Way Down,” where she plays a depressed woman, to her new challenge as Beatrice in “Midsummer Night's Dreams,” where she embodies a lively and lively character.

"It's not always easy," she shares, "the last few years during the Corona pandemic have been particularly challenging. I'm worried about the financial uncertainty and the lack of inflation compensation for acting fees." Nevertheless, passionately convinced that culture plays a central role in society, she emphasizes the need to reposition herself.

Diverse engagements and TV successes

Hirthe shows her skills not only in the theater, but also on television. She is very popular in the comedy series “StiNos” on Joyn/Sat 1. Her filmography is impressive, with roles in productions such as “Tatort”, “Klinik am Alex” and “DIE STINOS” (2024), where she plays the role of Annette. This versatility highlights her artistic standards and her involvement in various areas, including audio books and moderation.

"Traveling is a great passion of mine, especially to Italy. The cultural impressions always inspire me," she reveals, while at the same time thinking about what she would do differently if she could start her professional career again: "I would have studied law to stand up for injustice."

The Bad Hersfeld Festival and Natascha Hirthe—a combination that promises not only tradition, but also an exciting new direction for culture. When the curtain falls, she will prove once again that she has the right touch both on and off stage.

The path to the spotlight leads through memories, challenges and the shared belief in the power of art, which comes to life not least in such unique festival events.
