Outdoor swimming pools in the district: summer holidays recorded - visitor numbers fluctuate!
The summer holidays have begun in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, and the outdoor pools are expecting a lot of popularity during this time. But the initial interim results of the outdoor pool operators are rather mixed. According to HNA, the outside temperatures have so far fluctuated between just under 20 degrees Celsius and over 30 degrees. While the Bebraer Biberbad attracted many families and long-term swimmers at the beginning of the season, the number of visitors to other pools fell short of expectations.
The Philippsthal sports pool opened at the beginning of May, while the outdoor pools in Rotenburg and Nentershausen only opened their doors at the beginning of June. The rush at the Bebra outdoor pool was particularly pleasing, where around 1,200 bathers were counted on July 2nd. Even on hot Sundays at the end of June, the Geistalbad was well frequented with over 2,000 visitors. The Rotenburg city spokeswoman reported around 9,300 guests in June, with June 15th being the busiest day with around 1,650 visitors. The same applies to the Heringer natural pool, which was also well attended on hot days.
Challenges for operators
Despite the positive aspects, outdoor pool operators are worried about the high temperatures, especially for those visiting with small children. Kay Thimet, operator of several outdoor pools, expressed concerns that are also shared at other locations. Especially in these hot times, operators must keep an eye on the safety and well-being of guests.
However, a reassuring signal was that there were no serious problems with sexual harassment or aggressive guests in the outdoor pools. Only occasional lively situations were resolved confidently. Police operations were only necessary in a few, unreasonable cases.
Outdoor pool prices are rising
Despite these increases, the outdoor pool remains a popular place for families and those seeking relaxation. With more than 2,800 outdoor pools and 570 natural pools in Germany and an average accessibility time of ten minutes by car, the joys of water are within easy reach for many.
The situation in the outdoor pools is comparable to that in other cities, where there is also a high number of visitors. In Berlin, the pool companies drew a positive conclusion from the summer season, with over 570,000 visitors in 15 open-air pools, as RBB reports. There, too, hardly any serious security incidents were reported, which shows that a well-thought-out security concept and cooperation with the police and security companies bear fruit.
The outdoor pool season is still the focus, and operators are hoping for better weather for the rest of the summer holidays. It remains to be hoped that more hot days will come to fill the pools and offer families and swimming enthusiasts the cooling they long for.
