Levent Ullrich: Bad Hersfeld's new crumb chestnut champion 2025!

An exciting time lies ahead! Levent Ullrich, a seven-year-old student from Bad Hersfeld, was crowned the new crumb chestnut champion of the Lullusfest 2025 on Thursday in front of the town hall. The young master was introduced in the presence of city representatives, press representatives and members of the Lullusfest association and can now accompany important dates of the festival week, including the opening and the traditional pageant. But that's not all: Levent will also visit the children's clinic and will certainly leave many smiling faces there.

Levent, who is in the second grade at “An der Sommerseite” elementary school, started his application from an idea: a self-painted picture that reflected his enthusiasm for the oldest folk festival in Germany. Despite strong competition from around 60 applications from Bad Hersfeld and the surrounding communities such as Ludwigsau, Niederaula, Rotenburg and Hünfeld, Levent was able to convince the selection jury, which carefully combed through all the applications received.

A crumb chestnut master with verve

Levent represents the young visitors to the Lullusfest and clearly enjoys fulfilling his role. His hobbies, including football, handball and roller coaster riding, show that he is an active child who will have a lot of fun during the festival week. His first official appointment will be a group photo for the showmen's free raffle, followed by his big appearance on Lolls Monday when the Lullus fire is lit. This spectacle will certainly be a highlight of his year.

But that's not all! Levent will be seen in his costume throughout the festival, which he will be allowed to wear until the end of the Lullus Festival. As a reward for his first steps as a crumb chestnut master, he already received a large bucket of cotton candy - a sweet boost for all the adventures to come!

The Lullus Festival 2025

This year, the Lullusfest will take place in Bad Hersfeld from October 13th to 20th and attracts around 500,000 visitors every year. Preparations are in full swing and the Lullusfest Association is ensuring that everything is well organized. As part of the festival, there will also be a large free raffle, in which, among other things, a Mitsubishi Colt worth 17,000 euros and a Corratec Gravel Bike worth around 4,000 euros will be raffled off. These prizes, provided by various sponsors including Autohaus Kirschstein and Fahrrad Riebold, are certainly a great incentive for visitors.

The main prize and many other prizes, such as vouchers from Deka Bank and from KFZ-Meisterbetrieb Klee, make the free raffle an exciting highlight of the festival. It will take place on October 20th at 8:30 p.m. on Linggplatz.

It remains exciting to see how Levent Ullrich will master his new tasks as crumb chestnut master and we are sure that he will represent his role with dignity and with a lot of enthusiasm and a smile. The signs are good for the Lullusfest 2025 and the anticipation is already huge!
