On October 4, 2025, the 16th Oktoberfest in Fulda opened with much fanfare in the Esperanto Hall. Hesse's CDU General Secretary Leopold Born carried out the traditional tapping of the barrel - and that was a highlight not only for the guests, but also for him, as it was the first tapping of the barrel of his life. The event also took place on German Unity Day and was a true celebration of Bavarian culture.
The Esperanto Hall shone in bright Bavarian colors and was quickly filled with party-loving people. Among the prominent guests were Fulda District Administrator Bernd Woide and Mayor Dag Wehner. Music from the Kuppenstürmers created a great atmosphere and visitors were able to feast on various Bavarian dishes, which allowed them to enjoy the festival to the fullest.
A feast for all senses
The picturesque ambience and the delicious delicacies made the celebration an incomparable experience. Particular attention was also paid to the price of the beer: a liter cost 10 euros, which is considered cheap compared to Munich. This is definitely a good deal if you don't have to dig deep into your pockets for the Oktoberfest atmosphere.
To make the festival even more lively, the event was accompanied by live music from “Kuppenstürmer” and “Die Thierseer”, with the party DJ “Mo” also shaking a leg. The organizers went to great lengths to create a cheerful atmosphere and participants were encouraged to wear dirndls and lederhosen – in keeping with tradition.

The opening of Oktoberfest not only fell on a special day, but also marked the 20th anniversary of the Esperanto Culture and Congress Center in Fulda.
