Culinary vintage car tour through the Rhön: enjoyment and doing good!

On Sunday the members of the Fulda-Bonifatius Lions Club went on a very special trip. The “Culinary Young/Oldtimer and Convertible Tour” started at the Mazda-Krämer car dealership in Fulda and brought almost 30 vehicles, including chic vintage cars and elegant convertibles, on a picturesque 110-kilometer route through the Rhön. The members of a number of vintage car clubs and lovers of glamorous vehicles took part and ensured a lot of joy and a good atmosphere - even the unsettled weather could not dampen the enthusiasm, as Osthessen-news.de/n11777805/mit-cabrio-oder-oldtimer-durch-die-rhoen-lions-club-fulda-bonifatius-auf-tour.html) reported.

This event was not only a feast for the eyes but also for the taste buds. During the tour, the participants were provided with a delicious snack, and the crowning finale took place in the form of a barbecue buffet in the Antonius Foundation café in Fulda. The proceeds from the tour benefit the Antonius Foundation, which supports the “Er: Grow” project, and the Luther Church Fulda’s “Selig und Fed” initiative, both of which support important social projects.

The Lions Club in action

Andreas Kapp, President of the Lions Club Fulda-Bonifatius, was enthusiastic about the positive response from the participants. The passion for driving beautiful cars combined with culinary enjoyment creates a close-knit community that achieves a lot together. “Especially now, when we are coming together more, it is important to create offers like this,” explains Kapp.

The event is just one of many activities that the Fulda Lions Club has been organizing for over 65 years. The club is part of Lions International, a network of over 1.4 million members worldwide dedicated to serving the community and supporting people in need. Among other things, the proceeds from projects such as the 2024 Advent calendar of 5 euros each are invested in social projects, including the “Rosenbrot” project by the Social Service of Catholic Women e.V. Fulda, which fights against child poverty.

Further highlights for classic car fans

There will also be exciting events for classic car enthusiasts in the coming months. The “2nd Lions Stör Classic” will take place in Itzehoe on July 5, 2025, which will provide additional entertainment with live music and culinary delicacies. Registration to take part in this event is free, and there is also a “Best of Show” competition, the proceeds of which go to social projects. The anticipation for this event is great, not least because of the impressive classics that will liven up the streets, as can be read on [Itzehoe Lions.

In summary, it can be said that the Lions Club Fulda-Bonifatius has once again proven with the vintage car tour how important exchange in the community is and how much joy driving these vehicles can bring, while at the same time supporting social projects in particular. The commitment of the members and the sociable atmosphere make such events a valuable part of cultural life in the region.
