Fairytale children's festival in Hünfeld: A day full of fun and joy!

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, the Haselsee in Hünfeld shone in festive splendor. The big children's festival took place under the motto “Fairytale-like and colorful” and is now in its fourth edition, attracting numerous young visitors and their families. Organized by the city of Hünfeld, the event was a complete success and once again made it clear how lively cultural life is in the region. How East Hesse News reported that the organizers are pleased with the high response.

The event offered the little guests a total of 17 stations with various activities around Lake Haselsee. From creative hands-on stands to games and musical performances, there was something for everyone. The local heroes from the Mackenzell primary school, the TKV Großenbach, the wind instruments class from the Wigbertschule and the Hünfeld city ballet brought the stage to life and provided great entertainment.

A celebration for the whole family

Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok was pleased with the high number of visitors and linked the event to the Hessentag feeling that took place in Hünfeld 25 years ago. Entry to this festival was free, which certainly contributed to the crowds. Visitors praised the excellent organization and diversity of the program, especially the performance of the Mackenzell elementary school. In addition to music and dancing, there were also numerous participation activities.

The highlights included the children's hands-on concert with "Mr. Müller and his guitar", an enchanting walking act with the forest fairy Lysandra and various activities such as the popular photo box with costumes. The soap bubble theater was also very popular with young and old. The physical well-being was provided by Richter's Event Service, the THW Hünfeld local association and the Café am Haselsee, which also offered free pedal boats.

A colorful bouquet of possibilities

As in previous years, the children's festival presented itself as a magical place for entertainment and creativity. Around 18 stations offered the little guests the opportunity to try things out: from pony riding at the riding and driving club to workshops by “herb witch” Simone Ludwig. Crafts and face painting were also very popular. The Boy Scouts had exciting activities in store for the little adventurers, such as making necklaces and grilling stick bread. The puppet theater piece “Frau Holle” by the Konrad Zuse students was another dazzling item on the program.

As part of the Main-Kinzig-Fulda cultural summer, the children's festival is supported by the Hessian Ministry for Science and Research, Art and Culture and by the Sparkasse Cultural Foundation Hessen-Thuringia. The city of Hünfeld relies on lively creations and fascinating offerings that are very popular with families in the Rhine-Main area.
