The importance of the volunteer fire department

The Hünfeld Volunteer Fire Department is part of a larger whole. There are over 22,000 volunteer fire departments in Germany, serving around 70% of the population. These structures not only make sense, but are necessary, as professional fire departments in larger cities are often overloaded.
