Chlorination of drinking water in Schlitz-Hemmen: Important information!
From June 30, 2025, residents of Schlitz-Hemmen, Fulda-Lüdermünd and Großenlüder-Lütterz must expect temporary chlorination of their drinking water. The reason for this is the renovation of the drinking water fountain in Schlitz-Hemmen, which will take two weeks. As the Schlitz municipal utility company reports, drinking water will be supplied during this time via the Hemmen elevated tank, which will be temporarily supplied with water from the Schlitz-Hartershausen network. This measure aims to maintain the quality of drinking water.
The decision to chlorinate was made on the orders of the Vogelsberg District Health Department. The chlorine concentration will correspond to the requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance and is considered harmless to health. However, sensitive people are advised not to use the chlorinated water for drinking or preparing food until the chlorination is complete. It is important for aquarium owners to know that chlorinated water is unsuitable for fish.
