Queere youth in Werra-Meißner: Dream of mobile meeting in danger!
Queere youth in Werra-Meißner: Dream of mobile meeting in danger!
The queer youth in the Werra-Meißner district has big plans: it takes part in the “Mit-Haschen-strong together” competition of the PSD bank Hessen-Thuringia. This was initiated by the committed director Rukin Tatli and Nico Heidl, who motivated the group to register directly for the competition. The goal is clear: a mobile youth club and cultural events are to be financed with the possible prize money. However, Nico Heidl draws attention to a challenge that exists in the Werra-Meißner district: Many young people have no driver's license, which restricts mobility and underlines the need for a mobile meeting.
The support for the project is carried out by public voting on the website of the competition. In order to get into the final, the queer youth has to place among the top 30 teams. In addition, the MIT MENSCHE Foundation is committed to young people who have difficulty starting their professional life. The aim of the foundation is to promote self-help and solidarity and to offer young people who do not find a school or training position. This important work is financed by donations and a profit savings system. At the same time, this means saving that every contribution is not only used for a lottery, but also provides part of social purposes, as can be read on psdbank-ht.de
a meeting point for everyone
The queer youth in the Werra-Meißner district is an offer from the AWO district association and serves as a meeting point for the Queere Community on site. There are exchange, networking and joint activities here. Interested parties can get in touch on the Instagram page @Queere-jugendwmk. The group has already organized various events in the past, including information events, advanced training and cinema evenings. Also at the hop! State Youth Congress, which took place from November 4th to 6th, 2024, took part and celebrated her two years with a gala on May 2.
The queer youth benefits enormously from the commitment of the MIT-MENSCHEN Foundation, which not only provides funds, but also gives the opportunity to address and promote important social issues. The competition offers a total of 200,000 euros in funding, with 50,000 euros being awarded by the public and 150,000 euros by a jury of the PSD bank. The claim to solidarity and subsidiarity is very important to ensure sustainable support for affected young people.
The final of the competition takes place from June 24th to 26th and the queer youth still has a lot up to that point. With its contagious enthusiasm and the commitment of the community, your dream of a mobile youth club could be within reach.
