Dream grade 1.0: Four high school graduates from ALS Korbach are celebrating!
On July 3, 2025, 42 students from the Alte Landesschule (ALS) in Korbach mastered the leap into life with flying colors and passed their Abitur. The overall average of 2.03 is above the Hessian average, which reflects the excellent learning conditions and the committed school management Alexander Flake underlined. Particularly noteworthy are the four graduates who take the top position with the dream grade of 1.0: Sophie Wensel, Lisa-Marie Mitze, Karolina Bauer and Lea Bangert. They report a relaxed approach to the exams and praise the supportive environment at school and their families.
“I have always been interested in a lot of things,” says Sophie Wensel, who thinks in the medical direction. Karolina Bauer, motivated by internships since middle school, is also aiming for a career in medicine. “School has always been pretty easy for me,” she said. And what about the others? Lea Bangert has already secured a place for a dual course of study in the field of event management in Bad Homburg, while Lisa-Marie Mitze has no concrete plans yet and would like to take her time. “I want to work a little bit before I make a decision,” she explains. Their different approaches show the diverse opportunities available to young graduates.
The path to success
The four high school graduates have all developed their own learning strategies. They were also able to refine these as part of the “Abi Camp”. A common hobby that had a relaxing effect was sport. Whether it was horse riding, tennis or athletics, there were plenty of options to clear your head. There was little celebration before the written exams, but afterward the party mode was activated.
But what does this Abiplan success mean for education in Hesse? The results at the Alte Landesschule reflect the positive development of the education system the Hessian State Statistical Office shows. Successful training is crucial for qualified employment and for integration into the labor market. Education is a central resource that enables young people to develop their talents and actively participate in social life. It is therefore important that Hessian schools continue to create optimal conditions to promote such successes.
Cultural highlights
In addition to their academic achievements, the students at the Alte Landesschule also enrich life in Korbach culturally. As part of its activities, the theater group performed the entertaining comedy “Lotte's annoying corpses” directed by Olaf Schillmöller. The actors provided very amusing moments with sensitive performances and a charming Italian accent. Starting with a friendly coffee party, the plot quickly turns into a chaotic mess when a body has to be hidden in the house - a great example of the creative potential that is encouraged at the ALS.
Overall, it is clear that the Alte Landesschule in Korbach not only provides good teaching, but also promotes creative talents. The students have great prospects for their future and continue to contribute to the diversity of their community.
