Buhlen celebrates the Home Heroes 2025”: Team Blue triumphs!

An exciting event recently took place at the Buhlen Citizens' Association: the competition for the title “Home Hero 2025”. Organized by the WLZ and HNA, two teams competed against each other to find out who would become the next hometown heroes. Founded on September 22, 2009, the association has set itself a variety of goals, from the preservation of the youth center to the design of hiking trails to measures in youth and elderly care. The citizens' association currently has 63 members and is always open to new faces - "Everyone is welcome"! with a friendly reference to the contact person Christina Böhle at Triftstrasse 10 in Edertal-Buhlen.

The event brought a lot of enthusiasm. The participants had to prove their skills and knowledge in several disciplines. Team Blue, consisting of Elmar Schultze-Ueberhorst and Jens Ide, competed against Team Orange with Christina Böhle and Stephan Buss. One of the exciting disciplines was the “Drinking Gallows”, where Team Blue won by 18 seconds, while Team Orange needed 39 seconds. In the second discipline, the “home map”, both teams were tied at 5 points. The final test, “Knight to the Coconut”, was an exciting race that Team Orange won with an impressive time of 25.5 seconds. Ultimately (drawn across all tests), Team Blue won with a total time of 2:21 minutes and secured prize money of 300 euros.

A look at the disciplines

  • Trinkgalgen: Team Blau: 18 Sekunden, Team Orange: 39 Sekunden
  • Heimatlandkarte: Unentschieden, beide Teams: 5 Punkte
  • Ritter zur Kokosnuss: Team Blau: 58 Sekunden, Team Orange: 25,5 Sekunden

With a solid result and prize money, Team Blue not only took home the title, but also proved that shared commitment and team spirit are highly valued in the region. Events like these not only promote the cohesion of the village community, but also offer a platform for entertainment and exchange.

At a time when social media like YouTube attracts many people with their enormous reach, it is important that local initiatives like those of the Buhlen Citizens' Association strengthen personal ties in the community. YouTube, one of the most visited platforms in the world, shows how digital media can distribute content, but there is no substitute for personal contact and a sense of community.

Whether music via Apple Music or videos via YouTube - the variety of information and entertainment offerings shows that there is something for every taste. Nevertheless, the local commitment of citizens' associations remains an important anchor in society that contributes to the quality of life. The motto of the citizens' association remains clear: Together for a vibrant community!
