Grünberg youth fire department: Off to the German championship in Andernach!

The Grünberg youth fire department has a big adventure ahead of it. She will represent Hesse at the German Championships in Andernach. On September 7th, the young fire brigade candidates will compete against the best youth fire brigades from all over Germany. For the team from Grünberg, which is traveling together with the groups from Vellmar, Queckborn and Lehnheim/Stangenrod, this is an opportunity to present themselves well and gain valuable experience. How Giessen General reported, preparations are already underway. The team arrives two days before the competition to concentrate intensively on the challenges ahead.

Preparations for the championship are anything but easy. The Hesse decision took place in the Waldstadion of TSV Grünberg and attracted participants from various locations. Unfortunately, the group from Lorsch had to cancel at short notice, which meant that the teams from Grünberg and Vellmar were automatically qualified for the championship. Before the time came, the young people trained hard - seven training sessions in just a few weeks, led by Thorsten Vekens, the deputy district youth fire chief. You can only be amazed at the training content and the commitment of the young people.

Challenges and competition details

But what exactly can the young firefighters expect at the German Championships? The competition consists of various exciting disciplines that require both skill and teamwork. For example, the participants have to set up a firefighting attack with four C-hoses over various obstacles and reach a water target. More detailed details about the disciplines can also be found in the information on the youth fire brigade, which is usually divided into different competition areas, such as Youth fire brigade explained.

In addition, the young people have to cross a ladder wall, set down a fire extinguisher and correctly handle a hose package in a 400-meter relay race. In addition, there are tasks such as overcoming an obstacle that must either be jumped or run through. At the end of the route there is a distributor, two C-hoses and a jet pipe waiting to be coupled. Real teamwork is required here!

Team spirit and recognition

Despite the challenges, the hard work of coach Thorsten Vekens, who was also celebrating his birthday that day, was greatly appreciated by the young people. In their speeches, the district youth fire chief Marco Bingmann and city fire inspector Jan Erb emphasized the strong team spirit and the excellent cooperation between the three groups. Such positive experiences not only help prepare for the competition, but also strengthen the solidarity among the fire brigade candidates.

The competition, which also represents a valuable experience for the young people, is part of a larger framework of competitions organized by the German Youth Fire Brigade. This becomes clear when you look at the national and international events in which over 18,000 youth fire departments take part. The national competition has long since developed into a highlight that is only held every few years in a form like the German Championship Fire department magazine holds on.

For the young people from Grünberg, this is more than just a competition. It's about teamwork, the learning and knowledge they gain through practical firefighting work. And maybe we'll hear about their successes in Andernach soon!
