Shock at the train station: 62-year-old attacks mother and child!
On June 17, 2025, around 6:15 p.m., a 30-year-old mother and her child fell victim to a frightening attack by a 62-year-old woman at Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe train station. According to Bild.de from today, the attacker was apparently homeless and initially insulted the mother verbally before becoming physical.
In a seemingly unprovoked outburst, the 62-year-old kicked the mother in the thigh and also tried to overturn the stroller. Luckily, the mother managed to prevent the stroller from falling over. Despite the heated situation, both remained uninjured.
Reaction of the authorities
The alarming events were detected by DB security staff who discovered the crying mother on platform 2. They immediately informed the federal police, who arrested the attacker shortly afterwards. The arrest took place that same evening. The 62-year-old was released at around 8:15 p.m. after all police measures had been completed, while investigations against her for bodily harm and insults were started by the Kassel Federal Police Inspectorate.
The authorities are calling on anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward. Information can be submitted by calling 0561-81616 0 or via the website bundespolizei.de. Press spokesman Ibrahim Aras is available for direct inquiries.
A look at violence against women
Unfortunately, such incidents are not isolated. A dark field study by the Federal Criminal Police Office shows that 6% of the women surveyed experienced criminally relevant sexual offenses in the last year. A shocking 1.3% reported physical injuries. These figures highlight the ongoing problem of violence against women, which is still very present in society. In fact, 91% of physical injuries are committed by men, highlighting the need to address this issue in depth. Further information can be found on the [Women Against Violence] website (https://www.frauen-gegen-violent.de/de/infothek/violent-gegen-frauen/studienprojekte/schwarzfeldstudie-skid-bka-2022.html).
In Kassel, the question remains what is going wrong in society when such attacks on innocent people can take place. It is important to remain vigilant and keep our eyes and ears open so that we can all contribute to a safer and more respectful community.
