Frankenberg celebrates Rural Women's Day: 250 women sing for the community!

A warm meeting of rural women took place on October 26, 2025 in the Philipp Soldan Forum in Frankenberg. Over 250 women from 21 different rural women's associations came together to celebrate their community at Rural Women's Day. The main focus was on the performance of the choir “The Spiky Country Women”, which lightened the mood with humorous songs about country life.

The event was decorated for autumn and had a cozy atmosphere with red toadstools, yellow corn cobs and orange pumpkins. In the middle of the social gathering, Gunhild Scholl, the district chairwoman, gave a short speech. She emphasized the importance of rural women in education, health and the environment and highlighted their involvement in the community. “Valuable work is often done in silence,” said Scholl.

An afternoon full of enjoyment and singing

The rural women didn't miss the opportunity to miss out on the social part. A finger food buffet offered the opportunity for numerous conversations and exchanges. Instead of long speeches, the focus was on singing and humor. The choir, led by Monika Tartsch, performed in two program blocks and captivated the audience with its contributions.

The guests of honor included Mayor Barbara Eckes and honorary chairwoman Ruth Tijssen-Waller. Eckes used the opportunity to encourage women to become more involved in local politics, especially with the upcoming elections in 2026.

Looking into the future

Another interesting announcement came from Gunhild Scholl, who announced a cinema evening on November 25th in Korbach where the film “She said” would be shown. And the future of rural women's activism will also be shaped by the German Rural Women's Day 2026, which will take place on June 30, 2026 in Essen. Under the motto “design.inspire.move.TOGETHER”, the organizers are expecting around 5,000 rural women and guests. Those interested can already secure tickets for 25 euros.

This day will not only honor the work and commitment of rural women, but will also offer opportunities to meet and new impulses for the voluntary and professional commitment of women from rural regions. Awards such as “Entrepreneur of the Year” and “Country Woman of the Year” are also presented. This makes German Rural Women's Day a real highlight in the association life of rural women.

The event in Frankenberg once again proves how important the network of rural women is for the region and that community engagement is highly valued. Rural Women's Day could serve as a nice example that shows how much joy and cohesion there is in these encounters. Not only is the past honored here, but the future is also actively shaped.
