Musical anniversary: Army Music Corps inspires in Karben!

What a musical celebration! On November 8, 2025, the Kassel Army Music Corps transformed the community center in Karben into a special kind of sound world. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the youth orchestra of the Kurt Schumacher School and the Karben City Band, the ensemble presented a benefit concert that not only touched the ears but also the hearts of the listeners. Under the direction of Kapellmeister Christoph Schiffers, a colorful program was offered that focused on promoting young musicians, as the Frankfurter Neue Presse reports.

Despite the cool November air, the event attracted numerous guests and featured a workshop concert with the “Aeroflott” youth orchestra right at the beginning. This preliminary program ensured a successful introduction and allowed everyone to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the concert. Thanks go to Susanne Galisch from the board of the city band, who warmly thanked the musicians and sponsors, including the city of Karben and the company satis&fy, as well as n-ag.de is to be read.

A diverse range of music

The concert itself was a real fireworks display of musical highlights. With pieces like “Flashing Winds” by Jan van der Roost and “Variations On A Theme Of Robert Schumann” by Robert Jager, the Heeresmusikkorps brought the audience into the heart of the world of classical music. Senior Sergeant Max Arnold shone as a soloist on the tenor horn and received numerous enthusiastic ovations. The film music from “How to Train Your Dragon” and the 1989 Batman film also gave you goosebumps.

Staff Sergeant Claudia Römer impressed the audience on the steel pan with Caribbean sounds that put a smile on the concert goers' faces. After a musical trip around the world that included stops in Paris, the Lesser Antilles and New York, the ensemble also showed its versatility in the field of musicals. Rousing songs such as “If I Were Rich” from “Anatevka” and “Time Warp” from “Rocky Horror Picture Show” were presented. There was something for every musical taste!

A strong sense of community

The concert ended with the German Kaiser March by Friedrich Zikoff, followed by two marches and the German national anthem. The standing ovation from the audience was the crowning conclusion to a successful evening. The event not only served as musical entertainment, but also strengthened the sense of community in Karben. It's also worth looking forward to the plans of the Kassel Army Music Corps, because another charity concert is planned for June 29, 2025 in Wilhelmsthal Castle, which will feature musical diversity and a children's program.

Overall, the benefit concert proved that music can build bridges - and not just in Karben. The focus is now more than ever on supporting young musical talent!
