Kloppenheim on the move: millions invested in new sports infrastructure!

There are exciting times ahead in Kloppenheim because the community has invested heavily in the infrastructure. At the request of the citizens, a new ramp was built at the cemetery. This was done to alleviate the problems with parking cars on the opposite side, which often cause bottlenecks. The opening was based on community spirit, as local mayor Marita Scheurich (CDU) invited the population to visit the site. During this inspection, Mayor Guido Rahn (CDU) pointed out some challenges at the playground on the slope. Garbage and broken pieces left behind by young people are the main cause of dissatisfaction there.

Another major project is in the starting blocks: planned investments worth millions for a new artificial turf pitch at the sports facility in Kloppenheim on Heßlocher Straße. The total costs for the artificial turf are estimated to be between 1.3 and 1.6 million euros. A comprehensive environmental report is currently in progress. This measure is not only important for the two football clubs TV Kloppenheim and SV Hajduk Kloppenheim, but also for the local primary school, which looks after children and young people and offers leisure activities. Started in July 2023, the project is scheduled to be completed by May 2024.

A sports center for everyone

Topics such as the need to modernize the existing tennis court have already been discussed. The desire for year-round playability is based on the high intensity of use. In addition to the artificial turf pitch, the athletics facilities, which are to be modernized, are also affected. These include, among other things, a new long jump facility and a 100-meter running track. Safety aspects are also not neglected: a lighting system for the parking lot and entrance area was installed to ensure greater safety.

As a result of the redesign, the sports infrastructure not only gets a new look, but is also functionally expanded. A street basketball court and a beach volleyball court are also on the agenda. There is also a calisthenics facility and a table tennis table. The complete upgrade pursues not only sporting but also social goals by creating spaces for leisure activities and cohesion.

A look into the future

The planned expansion work goes hand in hand with the development of the new “Taunusbrunnen/Brunnenquartier” development area, which will result in an increase in the number of students at the primary school, which currently has around 120 students. Kloppenheim itself expects a future population of 3,500, which should further improve the quality of life. Meanwhile, the primary school is expected to be expanded with a new institution in 2030/31, making the current container solution obsolete.

Against this background, Mayor Rahn is developing additional ideas to optimize the parking situation - he is thinking of a parking guidance system. There are currently between 300 and 400 parking spaces on the agenda, as the narrow space is a challenge due to the residential development.

These far-reaching changes demonstrate a good hand on the part of those responsible and a clear commitment to a future-oriented and livable community. The construction yard will continue to operate during the summer holidays to speed up progress. After the summer break, details will be discussed with the FSV board, including the establishment of a new clubhouse. Kloppenheim is taking shape and the sporting prospects look promising.
