Drama in Nidderau: Major alarm in the dung heap fire at the storage area!

Late in the evening of August 13, 2025 at 9:27 p.m., the fire department and other emergency services were alerted to a small fire in the area of the K 246 between Nidderau-Heldenbergen and Karben. The operation was triggered using a digital pager and group alarm. On site, a large pile of manure caught fire in an agricultural storage area, resulting in noticeable smoke and firelight. As the Nidderau fire department reported that several units, including the Karben fire department, assisted in fighting the fire.

A total of numerous fire engines were in use: AB-Wasser Heldenbergen, FW MKK 21-66-1 and several units from the Nidderau fire department (NID 1-11-1, NID 1-46-1, NID 1-48-1). The police were also on site. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the emergency services, the flames were prevented from spreading to neighboring buildings. What was particularly pleasing was that there were no injuries to report.

Successful extinguishing work

The extinguishing work lasted until late in the evening. While a large contingent of firefighters brought the situation under control, the local media were also on site and reported on the events. In addition to detailed reporting, pictures were also published on the fire department's website, which fortunately did not document any injuries or deaths.

Another fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the agricultural cooperative near Königsee also illustrates how important quick reactions are in fire operations. In this case, the cause of the fire was believed to be an ignition of a pile of manure that had been moved. There was also heavy smoke and as a result numerous firefighters had to be called in to prevent major damage. The material damage here is estimated at around 50,000 euros, particularly due to burnt bales of straw and an affected shelter. In this case, fortunately all emergency services and affected people remained uninjured. However, long-term investigations are still ongoing, as can be seen in a report from the Saalfeld State Police Inspectorate.

Fire statistics at a glance

All of this is happening against the background of increasing fire developments in recent years. According to the findings of the World report on fire statistics covers a comprehensive analysis of 2022 fire statistics data from 55 countries representing over 1/5 of the world's population. The statistics show not only the number of fires and types of operations, but also the development of fire victims and deaths among firefighters. Such statistics shed light on the dangers faced by firefighters and underscore the need to stay current on fire-related issues.
