150,000 euros for inter -municipal security agency in the Wetteraukreis!
Security in the digital space is currently very popular, and this is clearly shown in the Wetteraukreis. Interior Minister Roman Poseck handed over a funding notice of over 150,000 euros for the newly founded inter -municipal information security center, in which 19 cities and municipalities are involved. Among the municipalities involved are Büdingen, Friedberg and Butzbach. The aim of this measure is to assist the municipal positions with advice and action in order to secure them against cyber attacks. FNP reports that the Wetteraukreis also provides the necessary subject experts and jobs.
Not only the support in information security is the focus of this initiative. On the occasion of the handover, a notice of donation of 106,183 euros was also presented for the construction of a exercise tower at the fire station in Büdingen. The exercise storm will offer important training options in the area of fall protection and height rescue and thus improve the safety of the emergency services.
collaboration for more security
The need for these measures becomes all the more clear when you look at the progressive digitization: cyber attacks are increasing and pending a massive threat to public institutions. In this context, 19 cities and municipalities have come together to strengthen information security. As SPD Wetterau , a last mayoral service was signed by the Information Security Center for the Information Security Center to found. This should start their work in spring 2025 and secure the ability of the municipalities.
Another point that underlines the importance of this initiative is the possibility of reducing costs through cooperation. The joint measures should result in annual savings of over 330,000 euros. The Wetteraukreis project group has already developed quick measures for information security, including a model for dealing with security incidents.
support for the municipalities
As part of the new ACTIONAL CYBERCISION (AKC) campaign program, the state of Hesse has provided a budget of over 1.5 million euros for the years 2023 and 2024 to support the municipalities in its cyber defense. In a recently held regional cyber security summit in Gießen, Central State Secretary Martin Rößler emphasized urgency to improve municipal IT security. He appealed to the cities to do their "cyber house tasks" and pointed out the growing dangers in the digital space. The Hessen3c has been offering tailor-made support for municipalities for five years to prepare for the threats in the cyber room.
These measures and the newly founded information security agency promise to strengthen the security of the citizens and the ability of the municipalities in the Wetteraukreis and to be a good step into the future of digital defense.
