Autumn meeting of breed poultry breeders: honors and outlook!
In Ober-Wöllstadt, the autumn meeting of the Friedberg district association of pedigree poultry breeders recently took place in the Römerhalle, where the breeding industry was in full bloom. The district association chairman Sebastian Hofmann opened the meeting and welcomed 19 delegates from ten clubs, including the honorary board members Heinrich Schieber and Kurt Daniel. An important concern of the meeting was the reading and unanimous approval of the minutes of the last meeting.
A highlight of the meeting was the honoring of breeder Volker Klös, who was recognized for his achievements as part of the Wetteraukreis award. Youth leader Astrid Flade-Hofmann gave a report from the youth delegate conference in Dreieich-Sprendlingen, which pointed out the importance of young breeders for the future of pure-bred poultry farming.
Important dates at a glance
Hofmann also reported on the delegate meeting in Ockstadt and the upcoming events in the district association. The district and district youth show are scheduled for November 29th and 30th in Oppershofen, with helpers for set-up and dismantling being urgently needed. Another point was the question of the organization of the district show for 2026; To date, no club has agreed to take on this responsibility. The annual general meeting is planned for May 3, 2026 in the Römerhalle, while the next autumn meeting is scheduled for September 27, 2026 in the clubhouse of the breeding facility in Nieder-Mörlen.
It is particularly pleasing that no applications for this year's autumn meeting were received by the district chairman, although two applications were approved by the district board. This shows a stable course and positive cooperation within the breeding community.
Honors for the best in the guild
In addition to the autumn meeting, the work of small animal breeders in the Wetterau district was also recognized. Every year, the most successful breeders are honored, and this year 79 winners from six associations received the Wetterau District Ribbon of Honor. This award, which was given by district councilor Matthias Walther, once again highlighted the valuable contribution of breeders to the improvement of breeds and animal species. “Youth work is crucial for the continued existence of breeding,” emphasized Walther.
There were particularly proud moments for the young breeders: Lea-Marie Kestawitz, 11 years old, from Münzenberg and 7-year-old Julian Rink from Nidda were honored for their commitment. Walther praised the children's commitment and the responsibility they take for their animals. The list of honorees included numerous representatives of the district associations, including KV Wetterau, KV Friedberg and KV Büdingen.
Breeding in the Wetterau is not just a hobby, but an important part of the regional culture that is practiced with dedication and passion. There are some interesting events coming up in the next few months that will appeal to both breeders themselves and the general public in order to further promote enthusiasm for pedigree poultry farming.
