Friedberger SPD conquers the mini golf cup – farewell tournament with excitement!
What is brewing in Bad Salzhausen? A mini golf tournament organized by the Wetterau SPD local clubs recently caused a lot of activity in the popular leisure center. On July 10, 2025, the SPD Wetteraukreis invited people to the farewell round before the popular mini golf course, which was put back into operation by the AWO Nidda in 2024, will be shut down after the 2025 season and redesigned for the State Horticultural Show in 2027. The teams fought for victory in bright sunshine and hot temperatures.
Each local club competed with one or two two-person teams, even the Jusos started with two teams. After about two hours at the racket it was clear: the Friedberg local club secured the gold medal and thus the title with its excellent performance. Places two to four were hotly contested, with only one point difference. The Niddatal local association ended up in second place, followed by Büdingen and Echzell.
The State Garden Show 2027: A big step for Upper Hesse
There is great anticipation for the 2027 State Garden Show, which will take place from April 22nd to October 3rd. The groundbreaking ceremony for the first inter-municipal garden show in Upper Hesse took place on March 19, 2025 in the picturesque spa gardens of Bad Salzhausen. Agriculture Minister Ingmar Jung (CDU) highlighted the project as a model for successful inter-communal cooperation. Eleven municipalities – including Büdingen, Echzell, Gedern and Nidda – are taking on this challenge together.
To improve the region, the existing parks in Bad Salzhausen and Gedern will be supplemented with new playgrounds and barrier-free paths. Büdingen is receiving a new multifunctional city park in the city center. A particularly important point is the use of existing local transport services and planned shuttle connections, which are intended to make it easier for visitors to reach the interesting event locations.
Climate protection and sustainable horticulture in focus
The garden show addresses important challenges of our time, such as climate protection and sustainable horticulture. The projects will be designed in such a way that they will continue to have an impact beyond 2027 and give the region impetus for tourism, infrastructure and the economy. An attractive program with communal flower islands and cultural events will delight the guests and makes it clear that a lot of passion is put into the matter here.
The project will be further strengthened by increasing the funding from the state of Hesse to a total of 4.5 million euros. Experts like Hanspeter Faas, a garden show expert, emphasize the long-term benefits of such events. The fact that big things are being planned in Upper Hesse can be seen from the ambitious goals.
So when you visit the mini golf course in Bad Salzhausen next year, you will soon be able to remember a real gem for gardeners, nature lovers and families. These developments clearly show that something is happening in Upper Hesse.
