Safe your place: Peace Camp for Young Ambassadors in Italy!

An exciting opportunity for young adults between the ages of 18 and 20 are ready: the international peace camp in Collecchio, Italy. From August 24th to 30th, 2025, interested parties have the chance to take part in this special event. The arrival day is August 23, while the journey home takes place on August 31. The registration deadline ends on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. If you want to register, you can conveniently do this by email to sermamt@stadt-butzbach.de A highlight of the camp: it does not cost the participants because the city of Butzbach covers costs.

The tent site in the idyllic Nevicati-Park, which is less than ten minutes on foot from the city center, will offer all the necessary convenience-from jointly used tents to foldable foam mattresses. The Villa Soragna, which serves as a community library and cultural center, is located within the park. In the city center of Collecchio there are numerous bars, cafés, ice cream parlors and restaurants as well as the nearby city of Parma, which is only 11 km away and can be reached by bus in a few minutes.

Together for peace

The camp has set itself the important goal of strengthening the participants as a sponsor of a culture of peace. Daily activities include not only conferences, but also walks and bike tours, which should encourage exchange and reflection on peace and integration. A joint project or workshop is presented at the "Peace Lunch", which offers the participants a platform to share their ideas and experiences.

The initiative is particularly important in the context of the struggle against hate and intolerance. Inspired by history, for example by the 75th anniversary of the SS massacre in Sant’anna di Stazzema, where up to 560 people were murdered, current discussions about democracy, right-wing populism and German responsibility for past crimes can be initiated. For example, participants from another peace project in Tuscany visited and reflected on the importance of peace and humanity, and recognized the need to work against right -wing populism, such as Allinfo.space reported.

At the end of the camp, the participants receive a certificate from the city of Collecchio and are appointed “ambassadors of peace”. This award is intended to encourage the young generation to become active and to promote peace in their communities.
