A lot is happening in the picturesque Maibach district of Butzbach: The Raiffeisenhalle, a central part of village life, is to be extensively developed further as part of the Hessian village development program. The goal? To strengthen the hall as a multifunctional meeting place and adapt it to the needs of the village community. This becomes clear when you take a look at the previous ideas and workshops that carry the banner of citizen participation. City of Butzbach reports that a first workshop took place at the beginning of the year in which the village community was able to contribute their wishes and ideas about the future of the hall.
The Raiffeisenhalle is not only a place for events, but could also function as a storage area and a cozy kitchen area. Particular emphasis is placed on accessibility and general renovation. Based on the needs of the population, a comprehensive usage concept was developed, which from now on forms the basis for further planning.
Current developments
The second workshop took place on October 14, 2025 and was met with great interest. This time the commissioned planners took a close look at the hall and its surroundings in order to precisely record the structural conditions and technical framework conditions. The first impressions and feedback from the village community have fleshed out the ideas and shown a clear need for room layouts, flexibility of use, design and technical equipment. It is gratifying to see how willing citizens are to actively participate in the design, be it through technical support, organization or creative ideas.

The participation of the village community will continue next year. The plans should be followed by concrete implementation steps that will further advance the development of the hall. The aim is to create a lively place that offers space for clubs, parties and many encounters - regardless of whether you meet to celebrate or to work together. It remains exciting to see how the Raiffeisenhalle will develop in the near future and what creative ideas will be brought forward by the village community.
The continued collaboration between the planning team and citizens can serve as an example of the importance of putting people's needs first.
