Bad Nauheim Forest Park becomes a health paradise for those seeking relaxation
In Bad Nauheim, the forest park is being upgraded in many ways, which attracts both locals and tourists. The 65-hectare forest park, which was certified as the first medicinal forest in Hesse, boasts new attractions and recreational offerings. Loud FNP The city administration recently initiated several measures to make the park even more attractive.
A highlight is the Wilbrand Hut, which has been enthroned on the edge of the forest above the ski meadow since 1927. This pretty little 25 square meter hut not only provides a great view, but is also part of Bad Nauheim's historical identity, as it was named after the grand ducal official Ludwig Wilhelm Wilbrand, who supported nature conservation.
A forest to relax and explore
In 2020, the city provided one million euros for the maintenance of the park, of which 600,000 euros have already been invested. Mayor Klaus Kreß reports an increase in income from the tourist tax to two million euros and at the same time reduced costs for forest management to 200,000 euros. Peter Heumüller organizes the maintenance and restoration of the forest park and plans to restore the line of sight along the Else-Ruh in 2026.
In addition, Bad Nauheim even opened a special “forest bathroom” that invites you to relax and reduce stress. Here, visitors can relax in hammocks and relax on ergonomically shaped wooden loungers. As part of health tourism, the healing forest promotes mindfulness and creativity with twelve health stations stretching over a distance of 2.3 kilometers. In this country, this type of relaxation is also known as “Shinrin Yoku”.
Let's relax!
A “feetness path” leads through the park and offers different materials to convey different sensory impressions. All materials come from Bad Nauheim or have been recycled, which underlines the city's environmental awareness. In addition to the gentle care of the forest, the reconstruction of the missing mushroom reading hut and the installation of a wooden railing with St. Andrew's crosses are also planned. The Kirchnerhütte will be restored next year, while the line of sight to the Münzenburg cannot be restored for logistical reasons.
The recovery services in Bad Nauheim are complemented by innovative approaches such as prescription forest therapy, which is helpful for rehabilitation patients, especially those with high blood pressure or chronic pain. Historically, guests such as Karl May, Albert Einstein and even Empress Sissi have enjoyed the benefits of the forest - no wonder it is still in high demand today! The work is being carried out by Heumüller and his dedicated team, who have also documented valuable trees, 400 of which are already registered in the cadastre.
With these developments, Bad Nauheim shows how important the combination of nature, health and stable tourism is. A holistic approach that benefits both people and the environment!
