The event gave the children in a vivid way why foods are often sorted out in the supermarket. Reasons such as blemishes, short -term expiry date or the often excessive order practice were explained in an age -appropriate manner. The little chefs were even allowed to work themselves: Under expert guidance, they prepared tasty dishes from rescued food. These included delicious potato columns, a fruity fruit salad and a creamy banana shake. The fun and the learning potential of the campaign met with great enthusiasm.
values such as sustainability and fair trade
Simone Hahn-Beck, the head of the Ahornweg daycare center, emphasized the importance of topics such as Fairtrade, sustainability and mindfulness in everyday life. It focused on the responsibility that each individual bears for the environment. The visit was regarded as a valuable impulse for the awareness of the children for environmental and justice issues.
But what exactly is behind the concept of Foodsharing e.V.? The association was launched in order to make a struggle for food waste and to promote sustainable changes in society. The need to avoid food losses developed into the source of innovative solutions. The start -up motivation revolves around the effort to save edible food and protect resources. The overarching goal is to promote the radical minimization of food waste and to promote a sustainable lifestyle.
success and challenges
Foodsharing e.V. can already look at remarkable success: millions of kilograms are saved every year, which not only contributes to reducing waste quantities, but also strengthens social ties within the community. Access to excess food is facilitated via local pick -up and a digital platform. However, it does not fail to occur that challenges, such as logistical problems or the need for regular training.
The legal framework for food sharing cannot be scoffed at: providers must comply with the requirements of food law and are classified as food companies. This concerns the complete traceability of the donated foods and the development of suitable hygiene concepts. The responsible handling of these resources is all the more important.
The initiatives such as those of Foodsharing e.V. and the latest activities in local educational institutions show how valuable the sensitization is for sustainable practices and that even children can take a permanent place in movement against food waste. It is up to all of us to have a good hand and fight together against the waste of food.
