From June 13th to 15th, the popular airfield festival took place in Gelnhausen, which was not only a celebration for the residents, but also had a very special purpose. How gnz.de reports, the Hanau Outpatient Children and Youth Hospice Service (AKHD) was supported with a whopping 4,501 euros. An amount that will certainly benefit many families in the region.
The focus of the event was an exciting charity auction, in which dazzling auction items such as a Star Wars helmet, sightseeing flights and signed T-shirts from air show teams changed hands. The members of the German Garrison, who appeared in impressive Star Wars costumes, also made it possible to take photos with iconic characters such as Darth Vader and Stormtroopers - a hit with young and old.
Volunteering and support
The cooperation of the volunteers and the 501st German Garrison was essential for the success of the campaign. These committed supporters have made it their mission to inform the audience about the valuable work of the AKHD, which currently supports 27 families with children and young people who suffer from life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. The AKHD service is free of charge for these families and is financed primarily through donations.
Thanks to the organizers' creative ideas and tireless commitment, total proceeds of 4,501 euros were achieved. A reference to the impressive 2,501 euros that were collected last year shows how much the event has developed and how more and more users want to support the work of the AKHD. “A big thank you to everyone involved and supporters,” said the organizers, who are already looking forward to the next airfield notch.
