Charity run in Hanau: Showing strength together against violence against women!
The penultimate city run, called “Show strength – together against violence against women”, was held in Hanau on September 19th. At this charity event, which is now in its 24th round, the route was laid out over 6 kilometers from the Hanau market square to the picturesque Philippsruhe Castle. The income from the participation fees goes entirely to a good cause: last year, 21,000 euros were donated to the women's shelters in Hanau and Waechtersbach. Mayor Claus Kaminsky and District Administrator Thorsten Stolz, as patrons, pulled out all the stops at the event to inspire participants and raise awareness of this important issue. According to GNZ, the run not only shows strength, but also sends a strong signal against violence against women.
Registrations for this run were accepted online and the conditions for participation were clearly structured. Youth runners had to have been born in 2012 and needed the consent of their parents or legal guardians. Safety was also taken into account during the run: a medical service was available and a final vehicle marked the end of the event so that no one had to stay on the route. A nice gesture that shows how committed the city of Hanau is to this issue. The organizational power was in the hands of the city of Hanau, the women's office, the department for women's issues and equal opportunities of the Main-Kinzig district and the 1st Hanau running club.
Other events in the region
On the same day, a special event took place in the “SpessartLounge” in Bad Soden-Salmünster. From 5 p.m. onwards, for example, everything revolved around the 70s, while cocktails were served in the brine pools. Mayor Brasch had already bet in advance that fewer than 50 people would show up wearing swimming caps. Those who came with a swimming cap had the opportunity to win discounts on their spa stay by spinning the wheel of fortune - an original idea to delight the guests!
The tension was also noticeable in the football world: the district cup final for the reserve teams took place on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Bieber. Here Germanias Bieber II and FSV Bad Orb II fought for the cup. While Bieber II boasted an impressive winning run in the B League (1:0 and 4:0 in the semi-finals), the team from Bad Orb had to struggle with injured and suspended players despite convincing victories (7:0 and 3:1 in the first rounds). The duel promised exciting moments and was another highlight of the evening.
Unfortunately, the political world did not remain silent: the local council met in Freigericht on Friday evening. Attention was given to important issues such as the draft budget and the appointment of a new local court chief. Also on the agenda were some property sales that are important for the future of the community.
September 19th was not only a day of exercise during the city runs, but also a platform for social engagement and local events that shape life in our region. Stay tuned to find out more about upcoming activities and initiatives in our beautiful homeland!
