Looters in Königstein: Unknown perpetrators caught on surveillance video!
A lot has happened in the region around Königstein, Wehrheim and Usingen in the last few days. Issues such as vandalism and drunk driving are increasingly being discussed, which not only keep the police on their toes but also concern the public.
A particularly brazen incident occurred on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Wehrheim. Shortly after 9 p.m., a 28-year-old homeless man threw a rock at a 61-year-old woman's car after she refused him a ride. When he was arrested, the perpetrator behaved aggressively and insulted the police officers who arrived. An alcohol test showed over two per thousand, which further aggravated the situation. The police are now investigating property damage, insults and threats, as news-stadt.de reports.
Drunk driving: an ongoing issue
Just one day later, in the early hours of November 8th, there was another incident in Usingen. A 23-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi resisted a traffic stop. There were signs of alcohol consumption during the stop, which is why the police were forced to use force to carry out the stop. The man now has to answer for drunken driving and resisting law enforcement officers. After a blood sample he was released.
Drunk driving is a major problem that was also addressed in a recent study by the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt). The survey shows that one in four road deaths in the EU is caused by alcohol. According to the study, which surveyed around 5,000 car drivers, 86.5% said they had not consumed any alcohol before driving. Nevertheless, there is a worrying tendency towards drunk driving, especially among young drivers and novice drivers, as bast.de reports.
Vandalism in Königstein
As if that wasn't enough, the citizens of Königstein also had to contend with vandalism. On the night of November 8th to 9th, unknown perpetrators broke into several unlocked vehicles on Fuchstanzstrasse, Rombergweg and Ölmühlweg and stole personal items. The unknown suspects not only left a mess behind, but also vomit and cigarette butts at one of the crime scenes. Thanks to a surveillance camera, the perpetrators were partially captured. They were described as follows: One perpetrator had short black hair and was wearing a dark blue down jacket with “Air Max” written on it, while another had a similar look with a black down jacket and gloves. The police are investigating and ask for information at the police station in Königstein, which can be reached at 📞 06174 / 9266-0.
The events show that not only road safety, but also public order is becoming the focus of attention in the region more than ever. The police appeal to citizens to be vigilant and to act promptly if they see anything suspicious in order to increase security in our cities and towns.
