Königstein is looking for young voices: Be part of the new youth council!
An appeal that invites young voices into the political landscape - that is the message that the city of Königstein is sending to its young people. The Hochtaunuskreis Youth Council invites everyone between the ages of 13 and 21 to actively participate in the planning and decision-making processes. As Taunus Nachrichten reports, young people can assert their interests here through their own projects. This not only strengthens the community, but also promotes understanding between generations.
The Youth Council, which was launched in September 2024, works in a non-partisan and independent manner. Two delegates from each municipality represent the concerns of young people and bring them into the political discussion. The next step in this important matter will take place on Wednesday, July 3rd at 6 p.m., when an event to select the Königstein delegates will take place. The exact location will be announced later, registration is required. If you have any questions, please contact the city's youth department jugendarbeit@koenigstein.de or by phone at 06174 202-310.
Youth participation as an opportunity
The benefits of youth participation are many. Above all, it not only makes it easier to help shape your own living environment, but also contributes to improving the quality of life for all young people. The city of Königstein not only wants to give space to this commitment, but also to draw attention to the importance of political participation. As Koenigstein.de explains, the goal is to give young people a voice and to actively involve them in decision-making processes. This commitment can even lead to young people “learning democracy” on their political path and acquiring important skills such as teamwork and communication skills.
But challenges are inevitable. It is important to reach all young people, including less educated groups and those from rural areas. It is therefore important to design participation formats so that marginalized perspectives are also heard. [Political Education NRW](https://www.politik-bildung.nrw/themen/vielfaeltig-engagiert/jugend participation) emphasizes that sustainable and inclusive youth participation requires approaches adapted to various needs in order to use the full potential of youth participation.
Königstein under the sign of youth
The city of Königstein could therefore establish itself as a pioneer for a lively youth culture that takes its young citizens seriously and offers them a platform. A separate youth participation project is also planned for 2026, in which young people can develop their own participation format. This means they can not only contribute their ideas, but also take responsibility and actively shape their view of things.
Time is running out, dear young people – use the opportunity to raise your voice and influence the future of your city! Königstein is counting on you!
