Five years of Babylotsen: Lifesaver for Families in Hochtaunus

In the first months of life of a child, the foundation for the future is laid. But not every family has the opportunity to create ideal conditions for little earthlings. This is where the Babylotsen come into play. They offer expectant and young parents who have additional information or help needs. After five years of successful work in the Hochtaunus clinics, an important anniversary has now been celebrated. Bad Homburg reports on the eventful time of the model project.

At the anniversary celebration, the Babylots Cornelia Sonnemann and Emila Wolf presented a gratifying balance: in 2024 they were able to advise 274 families directly in the clinic. In addition, they managed to impart 121 families into the network of early help in the Hochtaunuskreis and the city of Bad Homburg. This shows how important your role is in obstetric care. Their activity is widely regarded as indispensable for families.

important partnerships and support

There is special attention to the financing of the project, which is secured by the end of this year. The state of Hesse already granted funding of 40,000 euros in November 2019, while the Hochtaunuskreis and the city of Bad Homburg contribute 8,000 euros. Without these funds, the valuable work of the Babylots would be at risk. The German Child Protection Association Hochtaunus e.V. carries the project and secures the premises in the Hochtaunus clinics.

The regular cooperation meetings with various network partners show how important a common procedure is on questions of early help and child protection. Representatives of the Hochtaunuskreis and the city of Bad Homburg made it clear at this anniversary celebration that they actively work for the continuation of the project. Antje van der Heide, social department of the Hochtaunuskreis, and Tobias Ottaviani, city council of Bad Homburg, confirmed their commitment to secure the program.

an open ear for parents

The Babylotsen not only advises families to advise, but also provide important resources and information. At the Wöchner station, the Babylots are distributed so -called welcome pockets, which contain valuable information and contacts around life with newborns. Data protection is a central aspect of the work: all personal data is processed exclusively to carry out the project and not passed on without consent. Here parents learn how to use their rights within the framework of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Anyone who has questions about the offer of the Babylotsen can contact the team of the German Kinderschutzbund Hochtaunus The commitment of the Babylots shows that even in difficult times there is a reliable point of contact for expectant and young parents. A good reason to continue to support the project!
