Action weeks for seniors in Frankfurt: Mobility for an active life!
Things will be particularly lively in Frankfurt next September, as this year's “Getting Older” campaign weeks will take place from September 15th to 28th. Under the motto “Mobile”, the series of events is aimed at older people and aims to promote the activity and mobility of this generation. Rhein Main Verlag reports that more than 160 events are offered, divided into seven topic categories. These range from exercise and health to art, culture and education.
With over 20 years of experience, the action weeks have established themselves as an integral part of Frankfurt's social and cultural landscape. Every year around 150 offers are organized for senior citizens and interested citizens. Many different providers and actors are involved in offering valuable information and inspiration for culture, leisure and social engagement. Information can be obtained throughout the city from institutions such as citizens' advice centers, city libraries and adult education centers. Frankfurt.de emphasizes that advice and assistance are also offered.
Variety of events
The comprehensive program is organized into the following categories:
- Bewegung und Gesundheit
- Digitale Welt
- Kunst, Kultur und Bildung
- Leben, Begegnung und Gesellschaft
- Pflege und Demenz
- Gut aufgestellt fürs Alter
- Veranstaltungen des Dezernats Soziales und Gesundheit
For those interested, the program booklets are available in various establishments or can be conveniently ordered by email (aktionswoche@stadt-frankfurt.de) or by telephone (069/212-45058). In this way, older people should not only be promoted in their mobility, but also supported in their diverse realities of life.
Challenges and participation
The action weeks help to promote social participation among older people, a topic that is also covered in the latest age report from the Federal Ministry for Senior Citizens. The Federal Minister for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Lisa Paus, recently emphasized how important it is to recognize the diversity of the realities of older people's lives. Barriers must be broken down so that all older people have the same opportunities to participate and lead an active life - regardless of gender, origin or social situation. bmfsfj.de shows that despite an active lifestyle, many older people are confronted with discrimination and loneliness.
The action weeks in Frankfurt are therefore not just an event, but also a step to strengthen the participation of older people and give them the opportunity to live and celebrate their diversity. It's worth taking advantage of this concentrated program and getting inspired - for a lively and active future in old age.
