VfL Rüdesheim celebrates a dramatic victory in the penalty shootout against BSV!
What an exciting football game in Simmertal! In front of around 750 enthusiastic spectators, VfL Rüdesheim won the nervous drama against Bollenbacher SV on penalties. After two hours on the pitch, which lasted until the last minute, the decisive goal by Kamer Yakut was the key to success for the Rüdesheimers and secured them a ticket to the district league.
The game was characterized by a thrilling tension. There was no goal for the entire game, so the score went into extra time with a score of 0-0. In the 97th minute, Alexander Merk finally put VfL Rüdesheim in front, but Christian Horbach equalized in the last action of extra time and put the fans' nerves to the test.
A top-class penalty shootout
The decision was made in a penalty shootout, which went down to the twelfth penalty. Can Christ, the VfL keeper, showed his talent and saved Christopher Kornetzky's shot, which made the fans cheer. On the Rüdesheimer side, Baris Yakut, Cihan Yakut, Alexander Merk and Andreas Rodionov scored, while Shahab Ghafori was unable to convert an attempt. Ultimately it was Kamer Yakut who scored the decisive penalty to make it 6:5 and thus secured the coveted district league ticket. Rüdesheim has thus purchased its 16th ticket for the Nahe district football league.
As in every exciting game, there were numerous chances for both sides. During the first half, Cihan Yakut failed with a long-range shot and Merk, who hit the crossbar. In the second half, Rüdesheim was better offensively, with further opportunities from Semih Celebi and Cihan Yakut. In stoppage time, Merk caused another rebellion, but an offside whistle prevented the lead goal from being missed.
Looking ahead to the coming season
VfL Rüdesheim can now look forward to the coming season with confidence, in which they have to compete against ten other teams from the Bad Kreuznach district, including SV Oberhausen. Player-coach Baris Yakut emphasized that each of the three relegation games were different and challenging, which ultimately led to this narrow but redeeming victory.
The next time will show how the team will perform under the pressure of the district league. The effort against Bollenbach and the morale of the team certainly make us optimistic.
