The anticipation in Oestrich-Winkel is growing! On October 20, 2025, the now popular Rheingau children's book exhibition “LeseZeit” will open its doors in the community center. The organizer of this great event is the children's aid foundation "Give a Future! Jean-Dominique Risch", which has been committed to promoting reading among children for years. The exhibition runs until November 7th and is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to lovingly support the little bookworms.
With over 700 books to choose from, including more than 150 new releases in 2025, there is something for every little bookworm. Whether classics, comics or knowledge books – every child will find something suitable here. The goal is clear: to get children excited about reading and to improve their educational opportunities. The event is not only a joy for the young visitors, but also an active contribution to combating child poverty. The approach is based on the IGLU study from 2021, which addresses the connection between educational poverty and social poverty.
Opening times and visitor information
The exhibition is open on weekdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visits in the morning are possible for school classes and daycare centers after prior registration. Please understand that only warm socks may be worn, as street shoes are not permitted. Admission is free, although donations are welcome to enable such events to continue.
Last year, over 1,000 readers, both young and old, visited the exhibition, making it a highlight in the Rheingau. Jean-Dominique Risch, the founder and chairman of the board, was recently awarded the German Reading Prize 2025 - recognition for his committed work in the area of promoting reading. Parents are warmly invited to allow their children to visit. The little ones can even fill out wish lists with books they would like to read.
