Digital schools in the Rheingau-Taunus: Future project starts now!
In the Rheingau-Taunus district, there is a lot going on when it comes to digitization of schools. From now on, digital learning methods are being integrated across the board, so that students can benefit from modern teachers. According to ffh Nikolaus-August Otto School in Bad Schwalbach have already been tested. Here students have the opportunity to conduct interviews in a school -owned podcast studio and to implement their research creatively.
The use of 3D printers, which is used in subjects such as mathematics and biology, is particularly exciting. In this way, students can create their own models and understand more easily. There are also VR glasses that enable learners to experience historical places up close. As part of this progress, the Rheingau-Taunus district has provided large financial resources for the digital equipment of the schools. The district invests a total of 3 million euros in order to get a total of 45 schools up to date by 2028. This was also underpinned by the Minister of State Peter Beuth, who handed over funding commitments of around 7.5 million euros to District Administrator Frank Kilian. These funds come from the state program "Digital School Hesse", which allows investments of around 500 million euros in its entirety, of which 372 million euros come from federal funds and 124 million euros from the Hessian government.
The schools in the Rheingau-Taunus district are equipped with a variety of digital devices. Among other things, are planned:

- 306 displays (TV)
- 128 projector solutions
- 221 set-top boxes
- 307 Air Play sticks
- 122 screen Mirroring devices
This planned equipment has a total value of around 7.4 million euros. Furthermore, around 100,000 euros will also be invested in the digital equipment of the Vocational School Untertaunus and the Rheingau vocational school.

The schools still have time until mid -May 2024 to implement all financed measures so that digital transformation in class is carried out smoothly. In the past two decades, the Rheingau-Taunus district has already invested around 260 million euros in the building structure of its schools. This new digital initiative is another step in the right direction and shows that education also has its place in the digital age.
