Jernellio Inglese: Ober-Ramstadt celebrates martial arts star 2025!
Today, June 11, 2025, a celebratory sports award took place in Ober-Ramstadt, where the talented Jernellio Inglese was honored for his impressive successes in martial arts. The young athlete achieved over 20 placements at national and international tournaments in 2024, including notable podium finishes at the WKU World Championship and WMAC World Cup as well as several German Championships. Mayor Tobias Silbereis personally presented Jernellio with the honor and a certificate, a moment that reflects the pride of the city of Ober-Ramstadt and the SAN-TI martial arts school.
At this event, Jernellio not only received recognition for his sporting achievements, but also a practical gift: a backpack with the city logo. “We are proud of Jernellio’s successes and look forward to his future achievements in martial arts,” said Mayor Silbereis. This honor highlights the city's high level of commitment to supporting its athletes and shows its appreciation for those who are making a splash in the region.
Martial arts on the rise
Martial arts have a long tradition in Germany and continue to enjoy great popularity. According to current statistics, over 670,000 people are actively involved in various martial arts such as karate, judo, boxing and wrestling. The culture of fighting has produced many legends, including greats like Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali. In recent years, however, there has been a decline in the number of members, which is not least due to the constantly increasing leisure opportunities.
The various types of martial arts have evolved significantly. The German Boxing Association reported more than 81,000 members at the beginning of 2024 and organizes important competitions such as the Boxing Bundesliga and the German championships, which are financially supported by the Ministry of the Interior. At the last Olympic Games in Paris, Nelvie Tiafack won a bronze medal in the super heavyweight division, underlining the potential that German fighters have.
The importance of sport in the community
Jernellio's award is not only a personal triumph, but also a sign of the rich sports culture in Ober-Ramstadt. The city relies on a variety of activities to promote young talent and bring the community together. “Through events like this, we create a platform to recognize outstanding achievements and to further ignite enthusiasm for the sport,” emphasized Silbereis during the award ceremony.
The positive development of martial arts in the region is proof that the commitment of cities and communities as well as sports clubs is bearing fruit. Jernellio Inglese is certainly just the beginning - looking at the challenges and opportunities ahead, we can be excited to see what the future has in store for him and other athletes.
