Innovative materials for a sustainable future: Kuraray at K 2025
The global specialty chemicals company Kuraray, headquartered in Japan, is preparing for the K 2025 in Düsseldorf, which will take place from October 8th to 15th. Under the motto “Co-creation and sustainability”, Kuraray will present innovative materials that are of particular interest to the automotive, hygiene and packaging industries. Kuraray reports that They will present, among other things, PFAS-free automotive parts, skin-friendly solutions for hygiene-critical products and recyclable packaging.
The managing directors of Kuraray Europe, Dr. Matthias Gutweiler, emphasizes the importance of partnerships. When developing these sustainable solutions, close collaboration with customers plays a central role in order to optimally meet legal requirements and individual requirements.
Innovations for the future
Kuraray will present several product lines at K 2025 that are tailored to the needs of industries looking for future-oriented and sustainable solutions. In the automotive sector, materials for heat-resistant displays and recyclable exterior elements await visitors, among other things. According to Kuraray Bio-circular and compostable materials for the packaging industry will also be shown. These not only offer environmental benefits, but also reduce the plastic content and offer the highest barrier properties for paper packaging.
There is also a particular focus on the development of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH/PVA) solutions that use knitted monomaterials and ensure eco-efficient packaging. With the innovative use of KURARAY POVAL™, ELVANOL™ and EXCEVAL™, Kuraray shows how pioneering materials can revolutionize the market.
Measurable successes and sustainability focus
A life cycle analysis is already showing promising results. The “total climate change value” for 1 kg of KURARAY POVAL™ is 2.36 kg CO2 equivalent. Products manufactured in Frankfurt therefore contribute to reducing emissions. The biopolymer PLANTIC™, which is certified for its compostable properties, will also be part of the product portfolio. Kuraray points out that PLANTIC™ is ideal for producing packaging suitable for both industrial and domestic composting.
Kuraray Europe GmbH, the subsidiary of the Japanese parent company, was founded in 1991 and is based in Hattersheim near Frankfurt am Main. With more than 850 employees and annual sales of 1.1 billion euros, the company is one of the largest suppliers of polymers and synthetic microfibers.
