Citizens shine in the fight against crime in the Main-Taunus district!

In a moving ceremony in the Main-Taunus district today, six citizens were honored for their remarkable actions that helped increase security in the region. District Administrator Michael Cyriax and Police Director Carina Lerch presented the awards as part of the “Citizens and Police” initiative. The honorees, who come from Hofheim, Eschborn, Bad Soden, Hattersheim and Hochheim, prevented crimes and contributed to the arrest of perpetrators through their alert eyes and courageous actions.

In his speech, Cyriax emphasized that security in the Main-Taunus district is not the sole responsibility of the police: “Each of us can do our part.” Police Director Lerch added that an attentive look and a quick call to the police are often enough to prevent crime. This shows how important citizen engagement is to protect the community.

The heroes of everyday life

Citizens' awards are based on specific actions that made a difference. Mohammed Nassiri from Eschborn observed a man trying to steal expensive sneakers. Despite an injury he sustained, he continued the pursuit and helped catch the perpetrator. A great achievement!

In Bad Soden, Sylvia Wolenik, a savings bank employee, demonstrated special skill when she prevented an attempted fraud on an 89-year-old who had already become a victim of perpetrators. Thanks to their quick action, further money was handed over to the fraudsters.

Another bank employee in Bad Soden also prevented fraud when a customer showed up with a cheating companion who demanded several thousand euros for roof work. Here too, the police intervened in good time thanks to the intervention of the attentive employee.

In Eschborn, Turhan Türkeri jumped to the aid of a 72-year-old woman who was attacked by a 75-year-old man who tried to steal her wallet. Türkeri held the perpetrator in conversation until the police arrived.

Eduard Krebs in Hochheim also showed moral courage when he noticed a suspicious vehicle in an underground car park. He informed the police, who then arrested two bicycle thieves and found a stolen bicycle worth 700 euros in the trunk.

In Hattersheim, an attentive woman gave a crucial clue. She alerted the police when she saw a thief breaking into cars. The police were able to arrest the perpetrator and seize additional stolen goods from his apartment.

Security in the Main-Taunus district

The Main-Taunus district is not only considered a safe place to live; Unfortunately, the high economic power also attracts crime. However, a comprehensive security concept that promotes cooperation between the police, municipalities and citizens ensures a high level of security. The crime clearance rate is above the Hessian state average, which is largely achieved through the numerous prevention projects. The district's prevention council is particularly focused on this, for example to prevent residential break-ins. In total, there are almost 360 prevention projects in the district that actively contribute to safety.

The initiatives mentioned also include the system of color coding systems in schools, which enables rapid deployment of police and emergency services. In addition, the Office for Fire Protection and Rescue Services actively prevents danger. A central control center for emergency calls, 12 municipal volunteer fire departments and numerous rescue stations ensure that help is quickly on site in an emergency.

The commitment of citizens in projects such as “Be careful, be attentive neighbors” makes a decisive contribution to ensuring that security in the Main-Taunus district remains a top priority. The clear signal: Everyone can make a contribution to making their own neighborhood safer.
