City fire inspector Hammann explained the possible uses of the new MLF, which is equipped with a MAN 8,220 chassis and offers space for up to six people, with two even equipping themselves while driving.

The military leader Norbert Heinkel described the long way of procurement: The application for the vehicle was already applied in August 2021, followed by a grant from the state of Hesse before the vehicle was delivered in March 2025. All emergency services were then thoroughly trained and instructed.

The procurement was largely supported by funding from the State of Hesse. A total of around 58,450 euros flowed from the state and 7,500 euros from the Odenwaldkreis in the investment, which cost a total of around 250,000 euros. Over 90 % of the applications for these funding have been approved, which shows how important fire protection is in the region.

Thanks to the comprehensive load, which includes a fire extinguisher pump with an output of 2,000 l/min and 1,000 liters of extinguishing water, the fire brigade is well equipped for future missions.
