Groß-Gerau shows flag: protest against killing in Gaza!

On Monday evening, around 250 people gathered on the marketplace in Groß-Gerau for an emotional rally under the motto "Stop killing in Gaza". This event organized by a non -partisan alliance attracted many citizens who led their resentment about the ongoing bombing in Gaza. The protesters were concerned about the immense humanitarian crisis caused by the attacks, and called for an end to violence that leads to catastrophic homelessness and the loss of innocent life. The occasion was not only an expression of solidarity, but also an urgent appeal to the warring parties and the German federal government.

The "Groß-Gerauer Appeal" was formulated during the rally. In this document, the signing clear demands are directed to the parties to the conflict. For example, Hamas is supposed to surrender and hosted hostages while the Israeli government is asked to hire attacks on civil goals. The Federal Government also appeals to stop arms deliveries to Israel immediately. This appeal made it clear that the loss of every child, regardless of his nationality, is a tragedy. The event was harmonious, while the main speaker, Johannes Zang, publicist and author with experience in Palestine, impressively pointed out the urgency of the situation.

a wide alliance for peace

The appeal was signed by more than 130 supporters from politics, culture and civil society. The first signs included prominent names such as Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zzeil, Andrea Ypsilanti and Gregor Gysi. The co -initiator of the appeal, Dr. Harald Braun, a doctor from Groß-Gerau, emphasized Germany's historical responsibility in the relationship with Israel and called for an end to violence in the Gaza strip. The local Greens were also behind the appeal and unanimously support the demands. The musical accompaniment by the songwriter Bodo Kolbe from Mörfelden gave the evening an additional framework.

The condemnation of the terrorist attack on the part of the Hamas on October 7, 2023 and the military approach of Israel became particularly clear at the rally. One of the most important points in the appeal is to invite the hostages and negotiate a ceasefire. The location in Gaza has been dramatically escalated since the appeal was formulated, which is all the more underlining the urgency of the demands.

A look at the current situation in Gaza

The situation in the Gaza strip remains tense, despite the recently achieved ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli government, which came into force on January 19, 2025. This agreement initially provides for a duration of 42 days and is intended to calm down all parties to the conflict. One challenge is that around 98 of the approximately 250 hostages that were being dragged on October 7, 2023 are still under the violence of Hamas.

The humanitarian situation is still serious. According to the UN, over 46,000 Palestinians have been in conflict since the start of the attacks. The return of Palestinians who have fled to the south is intended in the first phase of the ceasefire. In addition, humanitarian aid goods are to be brought to the region to help people.

It remains to be seen whether this ceasefire will be permanent. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already warned about military measures if the negotiations fail. In this critical situation, people rely on peaceful solutions and the long -term peace that they urgently need.

The rally in Groß-Gerau was a sign of cohesion and hope that the situation in Gaza can finally improve.
