Today, June 14, 2025, summer brings a lot of heat in Hesse. The temperatures are skyrocketing: in cities like Frankfurt am Main and Darmstadt, temperatures reach up to 35 degrees Celsius, while in the beautiful Rheingau, for example in Eltville, the thermometer is up to 34 degrees. Marburg and Kassel can also look forward to a summery 32 degrees, while the low mountain ranges in Hesse will record around 29 degrees. But before the heat calms down in the evening hours, Hessians should be careful - thunderstorms are approaching.

How Meteocentre Reportedly, a high pressure area over the Baltic Sea is causing a strong surge of warm air, which brings with it the risk of thunderstorms in the evening. Before that, people can enjoy lots of sun and a good deal of humidity. But the first thunderstorms can be expected towards the evening, especially in the west and south of the country. Heavy rain and hail, possible damage from hailstones up to 2 cm in diameter, cannot be ruled out. Weather expert Angelo D Alterio warns: “The conditions for severe developments are present.”

The weather over the weekend

The weather is expected to calm down on Monday - here we can expect a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures between 20 and 26 degrees. This finally makes the humid heat less oppressive.
