Multifunctional building in Gundernhausen: Education redesigned!
Gundernhausen, Deutschland - Yesterday an important chapter for the Gundernhausen School came to an end when the new multifunctional building was officially handed over. The conversion of a former inn from the 1970s, which was adapted to the needs of the students: inside, is a big step towards a modern educational infrastructure. On the occasion of the handover of the building on June 27, 2025 were many interested parties on site. The investment of the Darmstadt-Dieburg district amounts to around 600,000 euros and not only includes a cafeteria, but also two multifunctional rooms for different school activities.
The challenges during the renovation were not to be underestimated. The construction work has made it difficult for a lack of inventory documents and undetected fire damage from the 1980s. In addition, defective sewage base lines had to be renewed. Thanks to the close cooperation with the construction office of the municipality of Roßdorf, the security standards and electrical dividers could be implemented in good time and reliably. The new building now offers space for up to 140 children in two -shift operation and is intended to cover the needs of the growing student body.
new construction of the school planned
Another reason to be happy: The district has secured the property for the planned new construction of a two -tier primary school. This new project is to be built on a 8,200 square meter area behind the local sports field. The first district deputy and head of school Lutz Köhler described the purchase of the property as an important step for the education infrastructure in the region. He emphasized that the current school building in the town center has already reached its capacity limits and that the expansion on site has difficulty. Thus, the new location could offer a transformative opportunity for the students: inside Gundernhausen. Rhein Main Verlag Change building law by the municipality of Roßdorf.
The headmistress Laura Scholz was enthusiastic about the opportunity to build a modern school building that meets the spatial needs of the school community. Norman Zimmermann, Mayor of the municipality of Roßdorf, spoke of a milestone that should now be continued quickly.
background to the educational infrastructure
The need to invest in educational infrastructures is also shown in a recent study by pwc . This emphasizes that school properties can represent a lucrative investment, since many school buildings are in need of overhaul and there is a high need for new buildings. Long -term rental contracts and reliable rental income make these investments particularly attractive. In view of the increasing number of pupils, especially through previous waves of immigration, many municipalities are faced with the challenge of not being able to manage the necessary investments alone, which makes private partnerships appear sensible.
With the conversion of the Gundernhäuser School and the plans for the new building on a spacious property, an important step is taken to improve both the quality of education and the infrastructure in Gundernhausen and to offer the pupils: inside a contemporary learning environment.
