New Rimbach stop: the way to school for students is now shorter and more comfortable!

The time has finally come: the new Rimbach School Center stop was ceremoniously inaugurated and makes the journey to school shorter and more comfortable for the students of the Martin Luther School. On August 18, 2023, an illustrious group of guests, including Stefan Schwinn from DB InfraGO and Ines Fröhlich from the Hessian Ministry, opened this important project, which significantly improves mobility in the region. Locomotive Report reports that the project was realized in collaboration with various partners, including the state of Hesse, the Bergstrasse district, the municipality of Rimbach and the Rhein-Neckar transport association (VRN).

With an investment of around two million euros, the stop was completed in just three months. The barrier-free amenities, such as a 100 meter long and 55 centimeter high platform, a weather shelter and a tactile wayfinding system, help ensure that the new stop is accessible to all users. The dynamic font display also provides up-to-date information, which is particularly beneficial for school operations.

Development and future planning

The pedestrian connection to the school center is via an existing pedestrian bridge that leads over the Weschnitz. This means that the students can get to school quickly and safely from the new stop. According to a press release from the VRN The new stop will also complement the existing train station in Rimbach and significantly improve accessibility to the southern municipal area.

Looking into the future, further measures are already on the agenda. Plans include, among other things, a barrier-free ramp and a park & ride facility that will further optimize connections to public transport. The Rimbach-Schulzentrum stop will not only be an important part of everyday school life, but also a future project that will strengthen local transport in the region.

With this new stop, everyone involved is showing a good hand when it comes to promoting mobility and comfort for the population. Rimbach has thus positioned itself well and will offer both students and residents real added value in the future.
