Heppenheim rejoices: Strahlemann Football Cup inspires with fair play and talent!

On June 14, 2025, the Starkenburg Stadium in Heppenheim became the venue for the 10th Strahlemann® Charity Football Cup. Over 200 students and employees from various companies took part in this lively event, which aimed not only to promote the joy of playing, but also to establish important contacts between young people and training companies. How MRN News reported, the event was celebrated with greetings from Bundestag member Dr. Michael Meister and the district representative Heinz Klee were ceremoniously opened.

The tournament day was characterized by an exciting game mode that included both group and knockout rounds. Over 50 games were played on the modern artificial turf and the atmosphere was characterized by sportsmanship and fair play. In the end, the winning team, the “Starke Schule” from the Eugen Bachmann School in Wald-Michelbach and the Sparkasse Starkenburg, prevailed 2-0 in the final against the “Bensemer Kickers” from the sibling Scholl School in Bensheim. In the student rankings, the match ended 1:1, which set the overall result at 3:1.

Promoting career orientation

The charity football cup is not only a sporting competition, but also a platform for career orientation. With the aim of supporting young people in their career choices, various actors work hand in hand, such as the Strahlemann Foundation, which is also active in other areas of career guidance. She is planning several events, including the reopening of the Talent Company in Soest on June 25, 2025, as well as the opening of additional Talent Companies in Theley and Stuttgart in August and September 2025. Further details can be found on the website Strahlemann Foundation.

These initiatives are part of a larger strategy aimed at preventing dropouts from training and offering young people practical and individual support. One example is the Berlin in-depth career orientation program, which is aimed at students in grades 8 to 13 and is supported by employment agencies in Berlin and senate administrations. The aim is to use practice-oriented approaches to enable young people to consider their career choices at an early stage, which is also becoming increasingly important in Hesse in order to sustainably improve the young people's career prospects. Heppenheim, the DRK Birkenau, Apollo Optik and the PwC Foundation, who played a key role in the success of the tournament.
