Summer festival in Lauterbach: 550 euros collected for the hospice service!
On June 22, 2025, the AWO social center in Lauterbach was transformed into a colorful meeting place for the entire community. In bright sunshine and temperatures of 30 degrees, a happy summer festival was celebrated, which was a special event not only for the residents, but also for many guests from politics and society. Facility manager Sylvia Motz-Sattler opened the event and created the framework for a sociable day.
A special highlight of the festival was the raffle, which was organized to benefit the hospice service. Patrick Krug, the first district councilor for the Vogelsberg district, emphasized the importance of such actions in his welcoming speech. Numerous cooperation partners and company owners from Lauterbach were active and donated non-cash prizes and vouchers. The main prize, a two-day trip to Würzburg, went to Elvira Oestereich, chairwoman of the city of Lauterbach's senior citizens' advisory board. The raffle raised a total of 550 euros, which was handed over to the hospice association, as the Lauterbacher Anzeiger reports.
A wide range of offers in the AWO social center
Not only did the raffle delight the guests, but the AWO Lauterbach Social Center also offers a wide range of services tailored to the individual wishes of the residents. The main focus is on professional care from the staff, who ensure that the residents receive the best possible care. The offerings are as diverse as life itself.
From inpatient services such as long-term and short-term care to outpatient services that include geriatric and nursing care, the facility offers everything your heart desires. The list of leisure options is long: musical offerings, memory training and excursions are on the program. So there is something for everyone to make life in the social center worth living, as you can read on the AWO website.
Appreciation of self-determination
Another important part of the AWO philosophy is the appreciation of self-determination - even in difficult phases of life. The AWO is committed to ensuring that people are supported in their personal freedoms, especially in the last phase of life. The topic of precaution plays a central role. Precautionary documents, such as the living will, ensure that individual wishes are respected. The AWO also recognizes self-responsible assisted suicide and offers those affected an opportunity to live and die in a dignified setting.
Whether through events or through individual care – the AWO in Lauterbach brings people together and ensures that no one is alone, especially in the crucial phase of life. The support of the hospice service shows once again that they have a good hand for the well-being of the community.
The day ended in a happy atmosphere with musical entertainment by Wolfgang Karas and Kirsten Gohlke. The show dance team “Sternschnuppen” from the Lauterbacher Carneval Association (LCV) also showed that the good mood remains at a high level with a fabulous piece from the musical “Frozen”. A summer festival that will be remembered and a sign of community ties for the city of Lauterbach.
