Major construction work in Angenrod: New road, safe cycle path!
Something is happening in Angenrod: The extensive road construction work that has been carried out on the bridge over the Antrift since the beginning of June 2024 is approaching an important milestone. This repair work acts as a preliminary measure for the planned renewal of the town thoroughfare and the construction of a new cycle path. The ceremonial announcement of the new projects by Mayor Stephan Paule and representatives of Hessen Mobil provides a breath of fresh air in the community.
The actual construction work on the Angenrod through town has now officially begun. According to the information from Hesse The measures extend over a section of around 740 meters. Not only will the roadway and sidewalks be renovated, but a new cycle path will also be created. What's particularly pleasing is that traffic safety and diversion signs have already been put in place so that traffic flow can be guaranteed as well as possible.
Construction phases and schedule
The construction activities are divided into several sections. The first section between the “Willi-Müller-Weg” junction and the village community center remains accessible to residents in the direction of Billertshausen. Care will also be taken to minimize disruption to residents in the following sections. The closure of the route will be lifted over the winter months, so that citizens do not have to go without a passable road during this time. Work in the second construction phase is scheduled to continue in March 2026, with all measures planned to be completed by the end of 2026. The costs for the expansion amount to around 1.7 million euros from the Federal Republic and 1.2 million euros from the city of Alsfeld.
Another point that should not be ignored is the increase in traffic volume for the surrounding communities of Zell and Romrod, which will be influenced by the renewal of federal highway 62. Work on the B62 will begin on March 17, 2025 and is expected to be completed by the beginning of May. There will be necessary diversions that must be taken into account, especially for truck traffic, in order to avoid traffic jams and obstructions. The city of Romrod has already published information on the corresponding diversion routes, which will lead via Seibelsdorf, Ruhlkirchen and other smaller streets. This is particularly important as traffic could increase significantly as a result of the construction work, particularly on the diversion routes.
Sustainability and digitalization in focus
The current development in Angenrod and the changes in the infrastructure reflect a larger trend that goes beyond Hesse. Loud KPMG Sustainability is no longer just an idealistic principle, but is increasingly viewed as an economic imperative. Digitalization also plays a crucial role in increasing the efficiency and sustainability of infrastructure.
With all of these measures, Angenrod is on the verge of being able to boast a modern, safe and attractive town thoroughfare. Residents can look forward to a noticeable improvement in traffic safety and pleasant walking and cycling paths.
