Beach festival in Rotenburg: Ferris wheel, music and a great atmosphere!

Things are going well again in Rotenburg an der Fulda! The annual beach festival starts on July 2nd, 2025 and promises a big festival full of colors, music and a good atmosphere. The organizers put a lot of passion and effort into putting together a varied program around the city center and the festival site on the Fulda. Today the festival opens with a concert by the Rotenburg Castle Ghosts and the marching band and fanfare procession, which is intended to put visitors in a festive mood. HNA reports that the official opening of the festival site will take place on July 3rd at 6 p.m.

A highlight of the festival will certainly be the impressive 20 meter high Ferris wheel, which will symbolize the festival site for the first time in many years. Over 27 businesses ensure a colorful hustle and bustle: from rides to stalls to food trucks – there is something for everyone. There are also five larger rides that offer exciting adventures. The showman is Otto Kaiser from Düsseldorf, who has been part of the beach festival for over 50 years and is bringing along six family members and vans this year.

Colorful program for young and old

The beach festival not only offers rides, but a whole fireworks display of attractions. In addition to lively concerts and a varied music and entertainment program, there are also numerous activities for children. The highlights are certainly the big parade and a boat parade on the Fulda, which will bathe the water in a completely new light. Traffic management and parking options

Anyone coming to the festival by car must be prepared for some road closures: Breitenstrasse will remain closed to traffic from July 2nd to 6th, as will the access via the Old Fulda Bridge in the direction of Brückengasse and Altstadtstrasse. Things could also be tight on the 4th of July, as the beach festival run takes place. However, visitors can use large parking spaces, including at the Untertor and the train station parking lot.

There will also be a number of events during the festival: the traditional lantern procession starts on July 5th at 10:15 p.m., followed by a relay race on July 6th at 10:15 a.m. The finale is the club parade, which moves through the city at 2 p.m. Against the backdrop of the beautifully illuminated festival site, you can experience a piece of red and white tradition.
