What a day for athletics in Hesse! Last weekend, two young TLV Eichenzell talents were able to shine and achieve considerable success at the Hessian championships. Malia Bohl, just 13 years old, impressed with a jump of 5.23 meters and thus secured the title of the Hessian champion in the long jump in the age group of 14-year-old girls. Her performance was rewarded with a gold medal, which she was able to proudly treated.

The different age groups enable athletes to compete with like -minded people and to develop their sporting skills. A look into the past and future of the youth championships
The history of the youth championships in Germany goes back to 1937 when the first German youth championships of athletics were held. A lot has happened since then and the event has developed. Athletes under the age of 20 are eligible to participate, and the U18 competitions were introduced in 1988 and later merged with the U20 championships. In the meantime there are even the German U16 Athletics Championships that have been held for those under 16 since 2014.
