Bad Hersfeld Festival: Hinkel's last season with magical dreams!
Today a very special chapter begins in Bad Hersfeld: The Bad Hersfeld Festival starts with the premiere of “Midsummer Night's Dreams”, staged by Joern Hinkel, who is ushering in his last season as director this year. How FFH reports, Hinkel has selected five of his favorite pieces for this season, including the classic “Midsummer Night's Dreams” as well as Schiller's “The Robbers” and Astrid Lindgren's “Ronja the Robber's Daughter”.
The special thing about “Midsummer Night's Dreams” is the direction of the production: in this performance, the audience can expect a steampunk version of the popular work by William Shakespeare that fits the dream world of the piece. Hinkel emphasizes that the connection to the work is deeply rooted in his own biography, as “A Midsummer Night's Dream” was the first play he staged at his school.
The festival program
In the coming weeks, the Bad Hersfeld Festival will offer a first-class program. The premiere of “Die Räuber” with music by the punk band “Die Toten Hosen” will take place on June 27th at 9 p.m., while “Ronja Räubertochter” will premiere on June 21st at 9 p.m. Hinkel emphasizes the current relevance of the message of “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter,” which is particularly important in our world today.
